I forgot my pattern
On the unlock screen, tap Forgot pattern and enter your nine-word recovery phrase. Then set a new pattern. If you do not have the phrase, the vault cannot be recovered. This protects you: nobody else can get in either.

Most problems can be solved inside the app. Forgot your pattern? Use your nine-word recovery phrase. New phone? Restore from your encrypted iCloud backup. We cannot open or reset vaults for you, because we never have your keys.
Common situations
I got a new iPhone or iPad
Make sure iCloud backup was on in your old device. On the new one, install Hidegrid with the same Apple Account, choose Restore, then draw your pattern or enter your phrase.
I deleted the app
Deleting the app removes the vaults stored on that device. If iCloud backup was on, reinstall Hidegrid and restore. Without a backup, the data cannot be brought back.
My phone was lost or stolen
Your vaults stay encrypted, and the finder needs your pattern to open them. Use Find My to lock or erase the device. Restore your vaults from iCloud backup on a new device.
Someone may force me to open the app
With Pro, set up a duress pattern in vault settings. Drawing it silently erases that vault. Practise your normal pattern so you never mix them up. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services.
Hidden photos still show in Photos
Delete the originals from Photos after import, then open Albums > Recently Deleted and delete them there too. Photos taken with the Hidegrid camera never appear in Photos.
Restore my Pro purchase
Open Hidegrid settings and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy Pro.
